If you’ve ever been taken by surprise by unexpected formatting changes on your roadmap, you’re not alone! Often these changes can occur at the last minute, just as you’re getting ready to present your roadmap. Not fun, right?
Thankfully, there’s no need to panic about any last-minute changes to your roadmap formatting with the launch of locked formatting on views. This feature gives you that extra level of security when putting the finishing touches on your roadmap so you don’t have to think twice about whether or not your view will change.
When you’re ready to lock the formatting on your roadmap view, here’s what to do:
- Within the Settings icon on the toolbar, select “Lock Formatting” from the dropdown.
- Once the formatting is locked, the usual formatting options on the toolbar will disappear. You won’t be able to change filters, Sub-Items, Format panel customizations, or anything related to the view’s publication settings.
- You’ll notice a banner message across the top of the roadmap that tells you the view is locked, so it’ll be super clear to anyone viewing the roadmap that this view can’t be immediately changed.
- You’ll still have the option to duplicate the locked view, as well as to unlock the formatting - which you’ll be able to do after viewing a confirmation modal that will pop up.
Keep in mind that as long as you or your teammates have the proper access to create and edit a specific roadmap view, you’ll be able to lock (or unlock) that view on a roadmap. Also, you’ll still be able to add new information (like Items and Fields) when your roadmap view is locked—only the formatting aspects of the roadmap will be impacted.
